Mission

The mission of the McNay Art Museum Archives is to support the goals of the Museum by maintaining an active institutional archives and records management program to ensure that vital records are preserved and to support the work of staff and meet the research needs of a diverse community. This is accomplished by identifying and systematically collecting, organizing, preserving, and providing access to the museum’s inactive organizational records of enduring value and to recommend policies and procedures for the creation, maintenance, and ultimate retention or disposition of museum records in all formats.

Archiving the Local Arts Community during COVID-19

We are living in an historic moment. In the same way that we are fascinated by how we handled the 1918 flu epidemic, future generations will want to know how we navigated the experience of a global pandemic in the 21st century. The archives of the McNay Art Museum invites individuals who are a part of Bexar County’s local arts community—whether you work behind the scenes, you are a creator, or you are both—to document their personal experiences during the COVID-19 outbreak and contribute them to our archives.
